GG039 is a collaborative effort between Dirty Merlin & Basico.
Basico had recently relocated from San Diego to Long Beach and this entire project was created in a blistering week long session upon them first meeting by chance shortly after his arrival. This musical exchange was a result of records pulled at random from Dirty Merlin's collection and the samples that Basico brought along with him that were already loaded in his trusty samplers.
"Flame Gibson, Holy Pyromancer" is a simultaneously pleasurable and disorienting listen from front to back. Lush sounds and smooth samples grease the wheels while the gritty style and manic swing of the record sets the racetrack on fire.
This chance meeting yielded an experimental project that is also firmly grounded in the instrumental hip-hop tradition.
Initially created as a 7" vinyl exclusive, this release is organized into two 5 and a half minute sides. The first side is grounded by the tracks "The Clique" and "Hebie's Cage," while the second side is entirely comprised of the album's name sake, "Flame Gibson, Holy Pyromancer."
Ten 7" records of this release were created, each with custom alternate artwork on the front and back of the record. Contact your local GRN+GLD Representative in regards to their procurement.
